I love self-expression. It is something we are all entitled to, and should take advantage of. We all only have one life to live. I'm not an artist. I'm a half rate writer. I'm not what I would say is good looking. I'm pretty much just a normal boring guy. The way I express myself, is through my tattoos. Some of them are what some would call... *ahem* "controversial", due to their apparent symbology, but I really love the way they look on my body. The meaning behind each one is there, and though they look a certain way, they aren't what they appear to be. I have often thought about why I enjoy getting them. Why I put myself through the pain? I figured it out last night. Tattoos are my final stand against fate. My legacy. It's my way to stand eye level with god and say "This flesh is mine to use while I am here, and I will do as I want with it". It's all the rebellion I can wage anymore. I'm not old but I'm getting older, and I have responsibilities that are more important than anything else... so I can't tell the cops off, I can go breaking the law, I can't rebel anymore... but no one can or will stop me from putting beautiful and meaningful art on my body.
If you love tattoos, get more. If you don't approve, that's fine. If you don't know how you feel, explore your soul and find out. If you try to tell me or mine that we are immoral for getting tattoos, you can keep your thoughts to yourself. I won't tell you you are wrong for not getting them, don't tell me I am FOR getting them.
Alas, the one thing blogger lacks, a *like* button. Very well put!
